SOCIOLINGUISTICS IN JAPANESE

Over the course of 15 weeks, I conducted an independent research project on sociolinguistics. Sociolinguistics is the combined field of sociology and linguistics and focuses on how societal factors such as gender, class, race, and occupation influence language use. I analyzed specifically how and why men and women in Japan speak differently, collecting data from linguistics literature and primary interviews with Japanese speakers. Click the button below to view my research in depth!
